Paula Perkins Bryant

BIOGRAPHY: Appointed Associate Circuit Judge, February, 2004, native St. Louisan. Graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, B.S., 1981; J.D., St. Louis University School of Law, 1983. Married, two children, a son and a daughter. In l993, her career began as a prosecutor in the Circuit Attorney's Office. As a felony trial team leader, she supervised three felony trial attorneys and three criminal investigators. In addition to her managerial duties, she carried a caseload of murder, robbery and other Class A felonies. Between 1996 and 1998, assigned to the Homicide Unit; prosecuted in excess of 40 homicide cases. Private practice 1991 to 1993, handling civil and criminal litigation matters ranging from personal injury to homicides. Served as an Assistant Public Defender, 1987 to 1991. From 1986 to 1987 held position of staff attorney for the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit, assisting judges in both criminal and civil matters. Active in numerous bar activities, i.e., member of the Mound City Bar Association, and held a position on the Association's Executive Board. Also, a member of the Women Lawyers' Association of Greater St. Louis;The Lawyers Association of St. Louis, and the Missouri Bar Association. She is a Role Model for the St. Louis Public School System. Her community commitments include the St. Louis Sentinel Charities, Delta Signa Theta Sorority, and founder of "The Secret Ear."

Julian L. Bush

Biography: Born November 7, 1949, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Educated at George Washington University, B.A., 1971; and Washington University, J.D., 1976. Was legal advisor to Circuit Clerk, 1977-81; in private practice of law, 1981-82; assistant and associate City Counselor, 1982-95. Appointed circuit judge on June 15, 1995. Retained in 1996 and 2004. Term expires December 31, 2010.

Michael B. Calvin

Biography: Born February 16, 1951, in Nashville, Tennessee. Educated at Monmouth College, Illinois, B.A.; St. Louis University, J.D. Married to Vanessa Garner-Calvin. He has two sons, Michael and Justin, and one daughter through marriage, Patrice. Member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Was a practicing attorney, 1976-78. Elected magistrate judge of City of St. Louis, 1978; became associate circuit judge by operation of law, 1979. Appointed circuit judge on November 17, 1988. Retained in 1990, 1996, and 2004. Term expires December 31, 2010.

Thomas Charles Clark, II

Born December 12, 1966, in Kansas City, Mo. Educated at University of Kansas, B.A., history, B.S., journalism 1990; St. Louis University, M.A., public administration 1993, J.D. 1998. Worked as an assistant circuit attorney, City of St. Louis, 1998-2006. Member St. James the Greater Catholic Church, Missouri Bar Association, and licensed in Kansas, merit badge counselor for Boy Scouts of America and former campaign treasurer for Lyda Krewson. Appointed by Governor Matthew Blunt on January 17, 2006.

Michael P. David

Biography: Born May 7, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa. Educated at University of Missouri–St. Louis, B.S., business administration magna cum laude, 1973; St. Louis University, J.D., 1977; National Judicial College. Married Michelle Boston on May 29, 1982. They have one son, John. Served as assistant public defender, City of St. Louis, 1977–79; Jefferson County, 1980–82. Served on Board of Commissioners, St. Louis Public Housing Authority, 1981–83. Elected to the Missouri House of Representatives, 1982, 1984, 1986 and 1988. Was in private practice. Past president, Missouri Circuit Judges Association. Appointed associate circuit judge on March 13, 1989. Retained in 1990. Appointed circuit judge on November 12, 1992. Retained in 1994 and 2000. Robert H. Dierker, Jr.

Biography: Born February 24, 1949, in St. Louis. Attended St. Louis University, A.B.; University of Missouri–Kansas City, J.D.; Harvard University, LL.M. Married to Dorothy Dreyer, July 3, 1982. They have three children. Law clerk to Joseph J. John F. Garvey

Biography. Judge John F. Garvey was born in Drexel Hill, Pa. On November 9, 1960. He is a 1983 graduate of St. Louis University with a B.A. in Urban Studies. In 1986 he graduated from Rutgers University Law School in Camden, N.J. He was in private practice for 2 years before becoming an Assistant Circuit Attorney in 1988 through 1991. In 1991 he was elected Alderman in the 14th Ward, and while in that role he also returned to the private practice of law. Judge Garvey served as Alderman until 1995, and was appointed Associate Court Judge in December of 1997. He was appointed Circuit Court Judge in December of 2003. He is currently President of the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Public Library and is a coach of basketball and soccer in his local Parish. He is married and has 4 children. 

Thomas C. Grady

Biography: Born in St. Louis. Graduated from St. Louis University, A.B., 1966 and School of Law, J.D., 1969. Married to Carol Adreon. They have two children, Kelly and Tom Jr. In private law practice, 1970–76. Philip D. Heagney

Biography: Born November 24, 1947 in Spokane, Washington. Moved to St. Louis in 1950. Educated at Johns Hopkins University, B.A., 1970; Harvard Law School, J.D., 1976. Married to Barbara Lynn Prosser on October 12, 1991. They have two children, Nathaniel Owen, born in 1994, and Samuel Joseph, born in 1997. St. Louis City police officer, 1970-1973. In private law practice in a small general practice law firm in the City of St. Louis, 1976-1996. Steven R. Ohmer

Barbara T. Peebles

Biography: Born July 14, 1960, in St. Louis, MO. Educated at Washington University St. Louis, MO, B.A., 1982 and American University Law School, Washington D.C., J.D., 1986. Assistant City Counselor 1987-1993. Assistant Circuit Attorney 1993-1998. Drug Court Commissioner for the 22nd Judicial Circuit 1998-2000. Appointed Associate Circuit Judge in September 2000. Angela Turner Quigless

Born: January 4, 1960, Miami, Florida

Undergraduate degree: B.A., University of Missouri-Columbia, 1981.

Law Degree: J.D., St. Louis University School of Law, 1984.

Appointed by Governor Bob Holden as the Circuit Judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit of the City of St. Louis on Friday January 03, 2003. Previously appointed by Governor Mel Carnahan as an Associate Circuit Judge on February 28, 1995. Prior to her appointment as an Associate Circuit Judge, she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri; an Assistant City Counselor and Assistant Circuit Attorney for the City of St. Louis. She also was a State's Attorney for the Missouri Public Service Commission and the Missouri Department of Revenue.

She is admitted to practice before the Missouri Bar and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Judge Quigless is a member and was elected in 1994 to the Board of Governors of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL) and served until 1997. From 1992-1996 she served on the Missouri Bar Young Lawyers Section Council. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Mound City Bas Association, Women Lawyer's Association, National Association of Women Judges, the Lawyers' Association, and the American Judicature Society. In addition, she has served on various committees and task forces within her legal affiliations.

Judge Quigless is also an active member of her community and serves on various boards such as: Board for Sherwood Forest Camp and PIAS Counseling Advisory Board. She assists with the Griffin Center's "Back Pack Em To School" program, Mentor for Mentor St. Louis, has co-chaired Mound City Bar Explorers Post and assisted in the Stand Down Project for homeless people and veterans.

Judge Quigless is married to Dr. Charles R. Quigless, Jr., June 28, 1997. They have one child, Charles Quigless III.

John J. Riley

Biography: Born June 20, 1947, in St. Louis. Educated at St. Louis University, B.S., 1969; St. Louis University School of Law, J.D., 1972. Married Kathleen Loberg, June 7, 1975, in St. Louis. Engaged in private law practice, 1972–95. Lieutenant colonel, United States Army Reserve, retired. Member: St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church; Missouri and St. Louis Metropolitan Bar Associations. Municipal judge, City of Black Jack, 1983–95. Appointed circuit judge on March 22, 1995. Retained in 1996, 2002. Term expires December 31, 2008.

Dennis M. Schaumann

Biography: Born January 7, 1948 in the City of St. Louis.Graduate of Roosevelt High School ,Southeast Missouri State University, B.A.; St. Louis University School of Law, J.D. Married August 23, 1969, to Patricia Ann Singrun. They have a son and a daughter, Michael and Marissa. Legal officer for the Juvenile Division Circuit Court, City of St. Louis, 1973–75. Michael F. Stelzer

Biography: Born in St. Louis 1964. Attended Augustana College Rock Island Illinois, graduated 1986 with a degree in Economics. Attended SLU Law. graduated 1992 Cum Laude. Worked for Judge Carl Gaertner, Missouri Court of Apeals. Worked for Kosta & Associates. Assistant City Counselor for 10 plus years (1993-2004). Member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, served as a member the School Board there including one year as president. Volunteer Coach and volunteer tutor (Boys' Club of St. Louis). Served as Legal Advisor to the St Louis Metropolitan Police Department from 2002 to 2004. Married to Peggy Stelzer, three sons Phillip, Danny and Martin.

Calea Stovall-Reid

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts. She received her undergraduate degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1982. In 1990 she earned the Juris Doctorate degree from the Washington University School of Law. Stovall-Reid was appointed to the Associate Circuit Bench in March 2003. Prior to becoming an associate circuit judge Stovall-Reid was Corporate Counsel to the St. Louis Housing Authority. During her law career she has worked as a litigation associate for the law firm of Peoples and Hale and served as an assistant circuit attorney and an assistant public defender. Stovall-Reid currently holds a seat on the board of the Women Lawyers Association of Greater St. Louis; and she is also a member of Mound City Bar Association and the Missouri Association of Probate and Associate Judges. Stovall-Reid is also a volunteer judge for the Truancy Court for St. the St. Louis City Public Schools. She is married and has two daughters.

Edward Sweeney

Biography: Born September 11, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri. Educated at St. Margaret of Scotland parochial school and Mullanphy and Wade public elementary schools in the City of St. Louis, and St. Louis University High School; Bachelor's degree in political science with honors and Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Missouri-Columbia; Master's degree in Business Administration from Saint Louis University; Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. Studied international law at the University of Notre Dame's program in London, England. Certificate in General Jurisdiction Judicial Studies from the National Judicial College. Graduate of the Field Artillery Officers' Course, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Served two years active duty in the United States Army, including one year as a field artillery officer in the 101st Airborne Division, Republic of Vietnam. Served two-year term as Chair of the Associate Circuit Judges of the 22nd Judicial Circuit. Adjunct Professor of Law, Washington University St. Louis; Member, American Bar Association, Past Co-Chair Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity Law; Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis; Charter Member, Women Lawyers' Association; National Employment Lawyers' Association. Past recipient: President's Award, Women Lawyers' Association of Greater St. Louis; Robert Walston Chubb Award, Legal Services of Eastern Missouri; Legal Services to Civil Liberties Award, American Civil Liberties Union; Horace Mann Award, Missouri NEA. Appointed circuit judge March 7, 2003. Term expires December 31, 2010.

Biography: Born December 2, 1947, in St. Louis. Educated at St. Louis University College of Arts and Science; St. Louis University Law School, A.B., cum laude, J.D. Married Carol A. Newcombe, August 24, 1973, in St. Louis. Participated in the United States Department of Justice honors program, Trial Attorney in Washington, D.C., 1973-78; Assistant United States Attorney, Eastern District of Missouri, 1978-89. Member: Catholic Church; Boy Scouts of America, District Commissioner; C.Y.C., coach. Appointed circuit judge on May 15, 1989. Retained in 1990, 1996, and 2004. Term expires December 31, 2010.
