DIRECTIONS TO CLERK
Service by registered or certified mail is permitted only under certain conditions set forth in Rule 54. The clerk should insert in the summons the names of only the Defendant or Defendants who are to be served by mail. After an affidavit has been filed as provided by
Rule 54.12,
the clerk must mail a copy of the summons and a copy of the petition to each Defendant by registered or certified mail requesting a return receipt signed by the addressee only, addressed to such Defendant at the address furnished by Plaintiff. The clerk shall also complete the certificate of mailing on the original summons and file such summons and the return, by registered or certified mail receipt, as papers in the case. See
