The Accounting and Traffic team is responsible for collecting and disbursing all monies for the Circuit Clerk's Office. Although this team has many duties, the two main responsibilities are:
- Processing traffic tickets from case initation to disposition
- Cost collection on criminal cases

Notes about online payments
- A convenience fee will be added to online payments.
- To pay online, you must have your case number and amount due.
- Online payments will not be posted to your case for 2 business days. If your case is in active warrant status, you must contact the Clerkâs office to verify payment.

- Traffic Payments (this does NOT include DWI, Driving While Revoked/Suspended) must be paid at least 24 hours prior to your next scheduled court date. Failure to do so could result in a warrant for your arrest.
- Please keep in mind the following traffic charges are mandatory appearances and cannot be paid online: driving without a valid license, no insurance/no proof of insurance, speeding in excess of 25 mph, and tickets where an accident was involved.

Filing fees are required at the time of filing for civil, family court and probate cases. See the full court fee schedule under FEES
Traffic
This team handles minor traffic violations, such as speeding, failure to register, and no insurance. It does not cover offenses like driving under revocation or suspension, or driving while intoxicated; those are managed by the criminal team. For inquiries about fines and court costs, please contact the Clerk's office at (573) 886-4027.
Traffic dockets are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 a.m.

Municipal Courts
In addition to handling state traffic cases from initiation to disposition, our team manages cases for the municipalities of Ashland, Centralia, Hallsville, and Sturgeon. These cases are heard before an Associate Circuit Judge.
Judge Shaw hears dockets for Centralia, Hallsville, and Sturgeon cases on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m. at the Boone County Courthouse in Columbia.
Judge Jackson-Williams hears all Ashland cases on the 4th Friday of every month at 9:00 a.m. at the Boone County Courthouse in Columbia.

Driver Improvement Program (DIP)
If the court has allowed/ordered you to attend the Driver Improvement Program (DIP) you must do so within 60 days of case disposition. Neither the court nor Department of Revenue can give you an extension on the 60 days. Failure to complete the program within 60 days of disposition could result in points being assessed to your license. Upon completion of the program you will receive a certificate. The original certificate needs to be forwarded to our office promptly. In order to participate in an on-line class, you will need the court originator number. Our court originator number is: MO010033J.
Time Payment Fee
Per local court rule 5.6 and COR21 the Clerk shall impose a fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) on each person who fails to pay a court-ordered judgment, penalty, fine, sanction, court costs, restitution or juvenile monetary assessment within thirty (30) days of the date of the court imposed judgment, penalty, fine, sanction or court cost.
Debt Collection
COR21 all fees 60 days past due will be sent to debt collection. Effective June 5, 2023 - a 14.5% collection fee will be added to the total amount. To pay in full, including the 14.5%, you may pay at the Clerk's office or online. If unable to pay in full, contact Municipal Services Bureau.
Tax Offset
Per local court rule and COR21 all fees 30 days past due will be subject to tax interception
