Case Numbering

All cases filed after June 26, 2000, will be assigned a new JIS case number. Each circuit using the new JIS system is assigned a block of case numbers per circuit. The block of numbers for the 29th circuit is 679,000 to 691,999. Therefore, all new cases in JIS will have the following information in the case number format:

2- digit Year
Case Type CV- Civil, CR-Criminal, PR-Probate etc.
6-digit sequential case number in the range assigned to the circuit.

Traffic cases will be filed in the court using the traffic ticket case number.
