Welcome to the Boone County Civil Team

The Civil Team maintains all official records pertaining to the legal rights and responsibilities involving individuals or corporations. There are three levels of cases handled by this team:

  • Small claims
  • Associate Civil
  • Circuit Civil

You can contact us here with any questions:

Small Claims

Small claims court allows businesses and individuals to file lawsuits seeking monetary judgments up to $5,000 without requiring an attorney. You may file up to twelve claims in small claims court per calendar year. Small claims forms are available in the forms section of this website.

Associate Civil

Filing fees are required at the time of filing for civil, family court and probate cases. See the full court fee schedule under FEES

These cases involve rent and possession, collection cases, and other matters up to $25,000. At the associate level, there are limited forms available, primarily for rent and possession cases. Please review the list of available forms. If you cannot find a form for your specific action, you will need to either research how to draft a petition or consult an attorney. Circuit Civil

These cases involve significant torts, collections, and other matters exceeding $25,000. There are limited forms available for filing at this level. If the required form is not available, it is strongly recommended that you consult with an attorney.

Garnishments

The court does not manage the collection of your judgment. If the losing party does not pay, you may need to start the collection process by seizing their assets. This requires details such as their employment information or bank account information. Make sure to review the garnishment form carefully to ensure you have all required details before submitting it. After completing the form, send it to our office along with the service fee for processing. You can monitor the progress of your garnishment on Case.net.
