Pro Bono Attorneys Deskbook

Basics of Dissolution of Marriage

Numerically the most frequent need of pro bono clients is resolution of a marriage problem. Being unable to afford an attorney, couples often seek “de facto” solutions. This can lead to dysfunctional family circumstances harmful to the children of the marriage. Such “de facto” solutions also can occasion violent rather than peaceful resolutions. Pro bono attorneys who do not regularly practice family law will be called on to help find a fair and peaceful resolution to a broken marriage. This chapter is intended for such attorneys.

The chapter covers numerous topics as you can see from reading the table of contents below. To request a copy of the chapter, click this e-mail link and request a copy by e-mail. The chapter will be sent to any Missouri Bar attorney by e-mail as a MS Word attachment.
