Filing Fee
Effective August 28, 2003, the fee for filing cases in the Supreme Court is $70. This reflects the $20 increase mandated by the enactment of Senate Bill 447 (2003), which increased funding for legal services in Missouri. Inmates or other persons who cannot afford that filing fee and who wish to file in forma pauperis (as a poor person) should contact the Court en banc office at (573) 751-4144 for specific instructions as to how to proceed.
Visiting Attorney Appearing in a Particular Case
Before filing, all attorneys who are not licensed in Missouri should determine whether they are required to comply with Rule 9.03, Visiting Attorney Appearing in a Particular Case, or Rule 6.01, Pro Hac Vice Fee. Out-of-state attorneys not licensed in Missouri may learn about seeking visiting status to participate in cases in this Court by viewing the attorney membership information.
Electronic Filing
Effective September 2011, all attorneys licensed and in good standing are required to file all filings electronically through the eFiling System. To learn more, please visit the Missouri eFiling System. To begin the registration process, please go to the electronic filing subscription page. Instructions are available online for attorneys who need help in using the eFiling System to file cases in the Supreme Court.
The Missouri eFiling System currently is not available to self-represented litigants, Missouri attorneys who are not in good standing or out-of-state attorneys. Filing by such individuals must be in compliance with the rules of appellate procedure (Rules 82, 83 and 84) and other applicable rules and statutes. For instructions about after-hours filings, please call the Court en banc office at (573) 751-4144 during regular business hours.
