From this screen registered users can enter parties and party related information for the case. The “Party” screen replaces the Filing Information Sheet as governed by Court Operating Rule 4.07.01.
The “Party” screen is only available on “File a New Case”.
Menus & Links
Party
- Party Type – Select the type of party being added (This field is required). Only party types that are valid for the selected case category will display in the party type list. Party types will be sorted alphabetically. At least one initiating party type is required in order to file a civil or domestic relations case. e.g. Petitioner, Plaintiff, Applicant etc. If you are Filer associated to a group, the agency you work for can be added as the Petitioner. For example: Department of Social Services or Department of Revenue.
- My Recent party List – Select this to access a list of recently filed parties for the Registered eFiler. This list will contain up to 500 parties previously entered and saved in the efiling system. This will allow a selection which will automatically populate the name/organization and address and demographics of the party selected.
The My Recent Party List has features that allow it to be searched or sorted by all fields except by Address.
- This Party Is NOT a person (checkbox) – The box defaults as unchecked. Place a checkmark in the box if the party is a company or organization.
If left unchecked, all fields designated with an asterisk are required. If the box is checked indicating an organization, the first name, middle name, suffix, date of
birth and gender are unavailable for entry. (This is optional.)

- Last Name/Organization – Enter the last name of the party or the full name of the organization. The “Last Name/Organization” field can consist of both alpha and numeric characters up to 60 characters in length. (This is required.)
- First Name – Enter the party’s first name. (This field is required unless the party is an organization. The “First Name” field can consist of both alpha and numeric characters up to 15 characters in length.
When entering a party that has only one name, such as Cher or Prince, enter Cher in the last name field and a “.” (period) in the first name field.

- Middle Name/Initial – Enter the party’s full middle name or initial. (Optional but should be provided if known.) The “Middle Name/Initial” field can consist of both alpha and numeric characters up to 15 characters in length.
- Suffix/Initial – Enter the party’s suffix. A dropdown menu provides a list of available options.. (Optional but should be provided if known.)
- SSN/EIN – Enter the party’s Social Security number (SSN) if the party is not an organization or enter the Employer Identification number (EIN) if the party is an organization. (SSN and EIN are not required but should be entered if known.)
The SSN/EIN is a nine-digit number and is entered with the
dashes. Enter the SSN in the following format: ### - ## - ####. Enter the EIN
in the following format: ##-#######. A help box prompts user about the
correct format when user clicks in SSN/EIN field.
SSN/EIN entries include the following restrictions:
Cannot have a value less than 001010001.
The first character cannot be an 8 or 9.
The 4th and 5th characters cannot be equal to 00.
All SSN digits cannot be the same (e.g. 111-11-1111).
The SSN cannot be sequential (e.g. 123-45-6789 or 987-65-4321).
- Date of Birth – Enter the party’s date of birth if the party is a person. Enter as a two-digit month, two-digit day and four-digit year, e.g. MM/DD/YYYY. A hint box prompts user about the correct format when user clicks in Date of Birth field.
- Gender – Select the party’s gender. Options are male or female. Leave blank if unknown.
Date of Birth and/or
Gender may be required for some case type and party type combinations. When
required, they will be denoted with an asterisk (*).

Address
- This address is the same address as previous party address (checkbox) – This checkbox only appears after the first party has been entered. The default for this checkbox is not checked. Checking this box will populate the address from the previous party but user will still have the ability to edit fields. Removing the check from this box will clear the address fields. (This is optional.)
- This Party Is NOT a person (checkbox) – The box defaults as unchecked. Place a checkmark in the box if the party is a government agency, company or organization.
- Country - The country defaults to United States but can be changed by selecting another value from the dropdown menu. (This is required.)
- Address 1 – Enter the first line of the party’s address. The address clearly should denote the street number and street name or may be the continuation of the name for a company or agency. If the party’s address is a PO Box, it can be entered in the “Address 1” field. When entering an address do not use punctuation. (This is required.)
- Address 2 – Enter the second line of the party’s address. (This is optional)
The addresses entered will be used for service of process. Street addresses are needed or if the service should be provided at another address, make a note in the “Note to Clerk” section on the Case information form and attach a document with the proper address information for service.
If the party has both a post office box and a street address, the second address line should be the address to which mail is delivered. For example, if a person has a post office box where they receive mail, the first address line should be the street address and the second address line should be the post office box. The zip code indicates where the delivery is made.

- City – Enter the party’s city. (This is required.)
- State – The state defaults to Missouri but can be changed by selecting another value from the dropdown menu. (This is required.)
- Zip – Enter the party’s five-digit or nine-digit zip code, e.g. ##. A hint box will prompt the correct format when user clicks in this field. (This is required.)
- Phone Number – Enter the party’s 10 digit telephone number, including area code. Upon completing each field, the cursor automatically advances to the next field for quick data entry. Example: (###) #. (This is optional.)
- E-mail – Enter the party’s electronic mail address. This field is case sensitive. (This is optional.)

Buttons
- Back – Selecting this button returns user to the previous screen. If all required information (*) has been entered on a page, the page will be saved as a draft. If partial
required information is entered, a prompt appears to notify user that they are leaving the page with unsaved data.
- Continue – Select this button to continue with the eFiling process. If the "Continue" button is selected with invalid or required information (*) missing, the user will be redirected to the current page with an error message for any invalid or missing information.
The next step in the
eFiling process may differ depending on selections made. For instance, File
New Case will require different processing than File On Existing Case.

- Add New Party – Select this option to add a new party. If the "Add New Party" button is selected with invalid or required information (*) missing, the user will be redirected to the current page with an error message for any invalid or missing information. If all required information has been entered and is valid, the current party information will be saved
and the user will be directed to a new party screen with only defaults populated.

Select Destination
Located at the top right corner is the "Select Destination" dropdown menu. The menu is listed in the same order as items are displayed on the main menu. Click the dropdown menu and select a destination to be directed to another Missouri eFiling System option.
Registered users can select from the following "Select Destination" menu options: File New Case, File on Existing Case, My Filings, My Drafts, My Cases, My Payments, My Account, My Preferences and eFiling Menu. The options available depend on whether the filer is an attorney or a group user.
Judges can select from the following "Select Destination" menu options: My Cases, My Account, My Preferences, eBench and Judicial Menu.
Menu Bar
Located in the upper left corner is a menu bar that contains the following:
- Case.net - A link to the Case.net home page.
- Courts Home - A link to the courts Home page.
- My Account – A link to the My Account page.
- eFiling Info - Hovering the mouse over the "eFiling Info" text will show a dropdown menu that contains links to the following eFiling information options: Announcements, FAQ, Rules and Status.
Left Navigation Pane
The left navigation pane provides a quick reference and summary of all the saved information for the current filing. The navigation pane displays the following sections:
- Case – Displays the Court Location, Case Category, Case Type, Style of Case, Attorney Reference Number and Filing Fee for the current filing. The displayed Style of Case is a link to the case screen.
- Party – Displays a list of each party type and name for parties entered on the current filing. All parties that are subscribed to the Missouri eFiling System will display a small, blue letter "e" after their name. For File New Case, the displayed name for each party is a link to the party screen with the saved data for the selected party populated. Also for File New Case, an association displays between each initiating party and the registered user. This association is represented by a displaying "Attorney:" followed by user's name and a connector bar to the party name. There is no association for group users.
- Documents – Displays the Title and an indented list of all attachment titles for each saved document. The displayed document title for each document is a link to the document screen with the data for the selected document populated.
- Review and File – Displays links to the Review and File Page by Section (Case, Party, Document).
Navigation pane contains a "+" or "-" button next to each section which allows user to expand or collapse each section.

Log Out
To log out of the Missouri eFiling System, you may click the link that begins with "Log out" followed by your username in the upper right of each page within the Missouri eFiling system.
