Supreme Court of Missouri seeks public suggestions for municipal court practices, procedures

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Recent events have raised issues about practices and procedures in the municipal courts of Missouri. The Supreme Court of Missouri is soliciting comments from members of the public concerning their experiences in particular municipal courts and their suggestions as to any practices or procedures that might improve those experiences. Members of the public are invited to send their suggestions to the Clerk of the Supreme Court by Friday, May 1, 2015. Suggestions should identify the particular municipal court the person wishes to address, should not exceed two pages and should be sent to P.O. Box 150, Jefferson City, MO 65102.

Please note that the Court is unable to change the result in any case that has already been decided. Complaints about the outcome of any particular case should be addressed through an application for trial de novo (a new trial in the local circuit court) or appeal where applicable.

Complaints that a municipal judge may have violated the rules of ethics should be sent to the Commission on Retirement, Removal and Discipline, 2190 South Mason Road, St. Louis, MO 63131. Complaints that a prosecuting attorney or other attorney may have violated the rules of ethics should be sent to the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel, 3335 American Avenue, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
