Information About Crime Victims' Compensation
The Missouri Department of Public Safety offers various resources to help compensate crime victims. These include:
- Crime Victims’ Compensation Program – provides financial assistance to people who sustained traumatic injuries resulting from certain violent crimes;
- Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Program – covers the cost of gathering, collecting and preserving evidence during the forensic examination for victims of sexual crimes that occurred in Missouri;
- Child Physical Abuse Forensic Examination (CPAFE) Program – for children younger than 18 years who are victims of physical abuse in Missouri, covers the cost of the professional fee for providers who perform SAFE examinations on the child or who provide a case review of previously gathered information provided by the child’s multidisciplinary team
