The St. Louis Daily Record describes its Women's Justice Awards as recognizing women who demonstrate leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and furthering the highest ideals of the legal profession. The award winners are women law, public office, civil service, business, academia, non-profits and the community at large.

The Public Official award is awarded to women judges and other public officials whose public service fulfills the ideals of the Women's Justice Awards in improving the quality of justice. Judge Russell is active in reaching out to young girls and goes into the community with her judge's robe so girls and minority students can try it on and envision themselves as judges.

The Citizenship Award is awarded to women non-lawyers who fulfill the ideals in improving the quality of justice in the community at large. Dr. Wolff is a pediatrician who spends half of her time in St. Louis and half of her time in Haiti where her nonprofit, Meds & Food for Kids, is located. At her facility in Haiti, Dr. Wolff's group produces a peanut-based nutritional supplement called Medika Mamba that is given to Haitain children suffering from malnutrition.
