Welcome to the Boone County Probate Team

The Probate Team has jurisdiction over the estates of deceased individuals, as well as matters involving incapacitated or disabled adults and minors. The Team handles all litigation related to trusts, including those established through wills. It also addresses disputes involving transfers to minors, personal custodianships, and durable powers of attorney.

Additionally, the Team oversees cases related to the civil commitment of individuals with mental illness or substance abuse issues to treatment facilities. It also manages cases involving the institutionalization of individuals alleged to be sexually violent predators.

This elected official is responsible for the custodial and administrative management of the estates of deceased individuals, as well as the estates and affairs of minors and incapacitated or disabled persons when no legal guardian or conservator is appointed or available.

Old Probate Records

Below, you will find two indices for the Probate Division records in Boone County, Missouri. These indices can be used to search for probate records from 1819 to 1981. If an estate was open for the individual you are researching during this period, you can search by name to locate the estate file number.

Once you have the estate number, you will need to view the file in person at the Boone County Courthouse, as no files are available online at this time. Please note that these indices are the only ones available for these years. Contact the Probate Division if you wish to view the file and determine its availability.
