The 31st Circuit Judicial Commission is now accepting applications for the office of associate circuit judge of the 31st Judicial Circuit, Associate Division 21 (Greene County), created by the retirement of The Honorable Dan W. Imhof, associate circuit judge. Judge Imhof's retirement date is August 31, 2017.

Citizens are encouraged to nominate well-qualified candidates for the commission's consideration. Qualifications for associate circuit judges may be found in article V, section 21 of the Missouri Constitution. Associate circuit judges shall be qualified voters of this state and residents of the county, at least 25 years old, and have such other qualifications as may be provided by law. Nominations should be submitted to the contact person listed below.

The application and instructions are also available at the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, 300 Hammons Parkway, Suite 300, Springfield, Missouri. The commission must receive all completed applications for the associate circuit judge position vacancy by 4:30 p.m. June 21, 2017.

The commission will decide at a later date how many applicants will be interviewed. The commission will conduct public interviews on July 6, and/or July 7, 2017, if necessary, beginning at 8:30 a.m. each date. The commission will then select a panel of three nominees for the vacancy from the applicants who will be interviewed. Thereafter, Governor Greitens will have 60 days to appoint one of the three nominees as the associate circuit judge.

Members of the Commission are Mary W. Sheffield, chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District; attorneys Steven B. Garner and Andrew K. Bennett; and lay members Steven Stepp and Joann Hosmer.
