22nd circuit commission seeks applicants for Wilson circuit, Sengheiser associate circuit judge vacancies in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – The Twenty-Second Circuit Judicial Commission (city of St. Louis) is accepting applications for two positions: a circuit judge vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Timothy J. Wilson and an associate circuit judge vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Jason Sengheiser to circuit judge.

Wilson is a 1976 graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law. He was appointed circuit judge by Governor John Ashcroft in 1989 and was retained by the voters in 1990, 1996, 2002, 2008 and 2014.

Sengheiser is a 2003 graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law. He was appointed associate circuit judge in 2016 by Governor Jeremiah (Jay) Nixon and was appointed circuit judge by Governor Eric Greitens in 2017.

The commission encourages qualified individuals to apply for these vacant judicial offices. Qualifications for circuit judge and associate circuit judge may be found in article V, section 21 of the Missouri Constitution.

Applicants who applied for the vacancies created by the retirement of Judge Philip Heagney or by the appointment of Judge Theresa Counts Burke as circuit judge may have their applications submitted for consideration for the Judge Wilson opening and the Judge Sengheiser opening by sending a letter to the chairman of the commission requesting such consideration. Applicants who wish to be considered for both openings shall send two letters, one for each opening. Please also send copies of such letters to each commissioner. 

Applications (including letters) must be received by the chairman no later than 5 p.m. November 8, 2017. In accordance with the Rules 10.28 and 10.29, candidate interviews will be conducted publicly.

The commission will meet to interview and select the nominees to be submitted to the governor starting at 8:30 a.m. November 29, 2017, in the Division Courtroom of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, at 815 Olive Street, St. Louis, Missouri. The interviews are open to the public.

The members of the Twenty-Second Circuit Judicial Commission are: Commission Chariman James M. Dowd, chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District; and Commissioners Thomas K. Neill, Bryan J. Sanger, Rita L. Burlison and André Harris.
