16th circuit commission announces nominees for Atkins associate circuit judge vacancy in Jackson County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Sixteenth Circuit Judicial Commission has met and selected a panel of three nominees for the associate circuit judge vacancy in Division 26 of the Jackson County Circuit Court, created by the appointment of Judge Cory L. Atkins to the position of circuit judge, Division 17. The nominees are:

Arimeta R. DuPree – trial attorney in private practice with A. DuPree & Associates LLC in Kansas City (received five votes in support).

R. Travis Willingham – chief deputy county counselor with the county counselor’s office in Kansas City (received five votes in support).

Jerri J. Zhang – deputy probate commissioner, Division 19 of the Jackson County circuit court in Kansas City (received five votes in support).

The commission has submitted the panel to Governor Michael L. Parson, who will have 60 days to appoint one of the nominees as associate circuit judge for Division 26.

The commission is chaired by Chief Judge Karen King Mitchell of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, and is composed of attorneys Phyllis Norman and Kirk R. Presley and lay members Connie Cierpiot and Damon Daniel.
