22nd circuit commission announces nominees for Mullen circuit judge vacancy in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – The Twenty-Second Circuit Judicial Commission has announced the panel of three nominees to be submitted to Governor Michael L. Parson to fill the circuit judge vacancy in the city of St. Louis created by the retirement of Judge Michael Mullen. Those nominated by the commission are:

Lynne R. Perkins – Perkins graduated in 1998 from Wesley College and in 2003 from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. He is an associate circuit judge in the 22nd Judicial Circuit.

David A. Roither – Roither graduated in 1996 from the University of Missouri-St.  Louis and in 1999 from Saint Louis University School of Law. He is an associate circuit judge in the 22nd Judicial Circuit.

Michael L. Walton – Walton graduated in 1991 from the University of Missouri-Columbia and in 1996 from Saint Louis University School of Law. He is a commissioner with the 22nd Judicial Circuit.

The commission received 11 applications and interviewed all applicants during one day of public interviews on May 3, 2023. Pursuant to Supreme Court of Missouri Rule 10.29, the commission reports the final votes received by each nominee were: Perkins received five votes, Roither received five votes, and Walton received five votes.

The members of the Twenty-Second Circuit Judicial Commission are: Michael E. Gardner, chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, and commission chair; Matthew J. Devoti; J. Brent Dulle, secretary of the commission; Eva Frazer, M.D.; and Chris Goodson.

Update: The governor on June 2, 2023, appointed Lynne Perkins to fill this vacancy.
