Statement by Chief Justice Richard B. Teitelman regarding end of his term as chief justice

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – I have been humbled to have served the wonderful people of our state for the past two years as Missouri’s chief justice. One beauty of our system in Missouri is that, while each of us has the opportunity to serve a two-year term as chief justice, we always work as part of a team of seven individuals.

I look forward to the future growth of our work during the past two years, including the steady expansion of our Missouri eFiling System as well as the continued success of our treatment courts. And I will persist in my own support of efforts helping to ensure that more of those who struggle to make ends meet can have adequate legal representation.

I am confident that my successor as chief justice, Judge Mary R. Russell, will be an effective leader for the judiciary and the state. I look forward to continuing my work as a member of our state’s highest court.
