JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Pursuant to Rule 10.28(d), the Appellate Judicial Commission announces the following demographic information relating to applicants for the vacancy on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, created by the resignation of Judge John E. Parrish, who retired September 1, 2009, after nearly 36 years of judicial service:
There are 23 applicants for the vacancy. Of these, eight are women and 15 are men. All 23 are non-minority applicants. There are 12 applicants from Springfield and 11 from other parts of the Southern District. Eleven applicants work in the public sector, 11 work in the private sector and one works in both. Of those who work in the private sector, nine are from solo or small-firm law practices. All but one of those who work in the public sector are state government employees, including 8 who work in the trial courts. The applicants’ mean age is 51.

The commission will meet beginning at approximately noon Friday, Feb. 19 at the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, 300 Hammons Parkway, Springfield, to select three nominees from this applicant pool for the governor’s consideration.
