Media Advisory: Investiture of Judge Patricia Breckenridge


The Supreme Court of Missouri will convene at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, to administer the official oath of office as Supreme Court judge to the Honorable Patricia Breckenridge. The investiture will be conducted in the En Banc Courtroom of the Supreme Court Building, 207 West High Street, Jefferson City, Mo.

Up to 300 guests are expected to attend. Chief Justice Laura Denvir Stith will preside over the ceremony. Speakers are expected to include former Supreme Court Chief Justice Ann Covington; Judge Victor Howard, chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District; Judge Jim Bickel, presiding judge of the 28th Judicial Circuit (Barton, Cedar, Dade and Vernon counties); and R. Denise Henning, an attorney from Kansas City, Mo. The Honorable Don Kennedy, who retired in 1995 from his position of judge on the Court of Appeals, Western District, will administer the oath of office.

Born in Nevada, Mo., Breckenridge formerly served as an associate circuit judge in Vernon County from 1982 to 1990 and as a judge on the Court of Appeals, Western District, from 1990 to 2007. Gov. Matt Blunt appointed her to the Supreme Court in September 2007.
