Supreme Court appoints judges to reapportionment commission


The Supreme Court appointed six appellate judges to a reapportionment commission by the following order, dated Wednesday, September 5, 2001.

ORDER
WHEREAS, the house reapportionment committee was appointed pursuant to Mo. Const. article III, section 2, and the senate reapportionment committee was appointed pursuant to Mo. Const. article III, section 7; and

WHEREAS, the secretary of state has forwarded to the Court a letter he received from each commission that each is unable to file the tentative plan as required by the constitution; and

WHEREAS, each commission shall "stand discharged" if a "final statement of the numbers and boundaries of the districts together with a map of the districts" is not filed with the secretary of state by September 28, 2001;

NOW, THEREFORE, if either or both commissions shall fail to file a final statement by September 28, 2001, the following judges are hereby appointed pursuant to Mo. Const. article III, sections 2 and 7, to serve as the reapportionment commission for either or both the house and senate, as the case may be:
