Judges Alok Ahuja and Mark D. Pfeiffer of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, each is seeking applicants for a full-time law clerk. Each law clerk position will begin in September 2026. The candidate each judge selects will serve a two-year term.

The judges’ law clerks generally maintain a hybrid work schedule, with the opportunity to work remotely multiple days per week consistent with the needs of the office. Law clerks office at the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, in downtown Kansas City.

Law clerks work directly with the Judge in reviewing case files, conducting legal research, recommending case dispositions, attending oral arguments, and drafting judicial opinions.

Besides strong academic performance, applicants should have significant experience in legal research, analysis and writing (such as through law review work, service as a faculty research assistant, or through clinical work experience).

Annual salary starts at $62,000, with eligibility for a raise after the first year. Compensation includes most State of Missouri employee benefits, including health insurance.
