ST. LOUIS – The Twenty-Second Circuit Judicial Commission announced the panel of three nominees to be submitted to Governor Michael L. Parson to fill the associate circuit judge vacancy in St. Louis city created by the appointment of Judge Calea Stovall-Reid as circuit judge.
Those nominated by the commission are:
Steven J. Capizzi – Capizzi graduated from Drury University in 2000 and from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2003. He is currently the director of the St. Louis city board of election commissioners.
Michael J. Colona – Colona graduated from Truman University in 1991 and from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1995. He is currently an attorney at Colona & Gentle LLC.
Craig K. Higgins – Higgins graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1988 and from Drake University in 1991. He is currently an associate city counselor and attorney manager in the municipal prosecution division of the St. Louis city counselor’s office.
Michael J. Colona – Colona graduated from Truman University in 1991 and from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1995. He is currently an attorney at Colona & Gentle LLC.
Craig K. Higgins – Higgins graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1988 and from Drake University in 1991. He is currently an associate city counselor and attorney manager in the municipal prosecution division of the St. Louis city counselor’s office.
The commission conducted two days of public hearings and interviewed 29 applicants. The commission believes these candidates, chosen from a field of extremely qualified individuals, possess those qualities essential to the fair and efficient administration of justice. The commission is confident all of these individuals are capable of serving well and honorably if selected by the governor. Pursuant to Supreme Court of Missouri Rule 10.29, the commission reports the final votes received by each nominee were: Capizzi received five votes, Colona received three votes and Higgins received five votes.
The members of the Twenty-Second Circuit Judicial Commission are: Lisa P. Page, chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, and chairman of the commission; J. Brent Dulle, Chris Goodson, Andre Harris, and Bryan J. Sanger.
