The Juvenile Information Governance Commission was created in 2001 by the passage of House Bill 236. The commission is tasked with authorizing categories of information to be shared between executive agencies and juvenile and family divisions of the circuit courts. Additionally, the commission is charged with providing vision, strategy and policy approval, as well as oversight for the development and implementation of information sharing in community agencies, law enforcement, and juvenile and family courts. The commission has authority to appoint subcommittees to address technical and policy issues associated with information sharing, communication, development and implementation.
