SMART SENTENCING BULLETINSThe Sentencing Advisory Commission has launched Smart Sentencing to keep judicial decision-makers current as to the latest information related to sentencing practices and their impacts.
Volume 2, Issue 5, August 17, 2010: This bulletin shows two features on the MOSAC web sentencing information application: 1.) What is the likelihood, under different sentencing options, that an offender with a specific prior criminal history who commits a specific offense will be reincarcerated? 2.) How much would each sentence option cost the state?
Volume 2, Issue 4, April 13, 2010: This bulletin reprints a memorandum written by Judge Gary Oxenhandler, presiding judge of the 13th Judicial Circuit (Boone and Callaway counties), to the judges in his circuit about a program he recently attended that explained the principles and practices of evidence-based sentencing.
Volume 2, Issue 3, March 18, 2010: This bulletin provides information about the percentage of first-time felony nonviolent offenders incarcerated in the state's prisons.
