21st circuit commission releases meeting information for Reno circuit judge vacancy and demographic, interviewee and meeting information for impending associate circuit judge vacancy, both in St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS – Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 10.22(c), the Twenty-First Circuit Judicial Commission announced today it will meet at approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at the St. Louis County Court Building, 105 S. Central Ave., Clayton, Missouri to select a panel of three nominees for the circuit judge vacancy created by the impending retirement of Judge Gloria Clark Reno to be submitted to Governor Michael L. Parson. As noted in the commission’s November 4, 2019 news release, the public interviews of the applicants for this vacancy took place December 5, 2019. 

Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 10.28(d), the Twenty-First Circuit Judicial Commission releases the following information relating to applicants for the associate circuit judge vacancy that will be created by Governor Michael L. Parson’s appointment of one of the three associate circuit judges nominated to fill the circuit judge vacancy created by Judge Michael T. Jamison’s retirement: 29 applicants, 12 women, 17 men, nine minorities, 20 non-minorities, 19 presently employed in the private sector and 10 presently employed in the public sector. The applicants’ mean age is 50.4.

Also pursuant to Rule 10.28(d), the commission announces it will interview all 30 applicants:

The commission will meet beginning at 8:30 a.m. February 5, 2020, at the St. Louis County Court Building, Room South 15, located at 105 South Central, main floor, Clayton, Missouri, to conduct public interviews of this applicant pool. The public is invited to attend and observe the interviews.

Immediately following the conclusion of the public interviews for the impending associate circuit judge vacancy, the commission expects to meet to select the nominees for the vacancy created by the impending retirement of Judge Gloria Clark Reno. Immediately following that meeting, the commission expects to meet to select a panel of three nominees for the impending associate circuit judge vacancy. Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 10.28(c) these meetings of the commission shall be closed to the public. 

The members of the Twenty-First Circuit Judicial Commission are: Colleen Dolan, chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, and chairperson of the commission; Tiffany Mapp Franklin, William P. Grant, Al Koller III, and Jeffrey D. Sigmund.
