RULE 375 AMICUS CURIAE FILINGS

a) A brief may be filed by amicus curiae. Amicus curiae may also file suggestions in support or in opposition to the granting of a motion for rehearing and/or transfer to the Supreme Court, or suggestions in support or opposition to the issuance of an extraordinary writ.

b) The brief or suggestions may be filed only with leave of court. The motion for leave shall concisely state the nature of the applicant's interest, set forth facts or questions of law that have not been, or reasons for believing that they will not adequately be, presented by the parties, and their relevancy to the disposition of the case. The motion shall not exceed five pages. The brief or suggestions shall be conditionally filed with the motion for leave. The brief or suggestions shall only be filed if presented for filing within the time allowed for the filing of the brief or suggestions of the party supported, unless extended by the court.

c) Any party may file objections to the filing of a brief or suggestions of an amicus curiae no later than five days after the filing of the motion for leave.

d) Leave for the filing of an amicus curiae brief shall not be necessary when the brief is presented by the Attorney General or a State entity authorized by law to appear on its own behalf.

e) Amicus curiae shall not be permitted oral argument unless leave is granted by the court.
