7.03 | Board of Governors

The Board of Governors shall consist of:

(a) The last retiring president of The Missouri Bar who shall be a member for one year immediately following the date of his retirement as president of The Missouri Bar.

(b) A member of The Missouri Bar who shall be not older than 34 years of age on October 1 of the year of his election. He shall be elected as representative of the young lawyers of the state for a two-year term in each even-numbered year commencing in 1974. The said member shall be elected in a manner prescribed by the Board of Governors, which may delegate to the Young Lawyers Section the authority to elect said member.

(c) Forty members of The Missouri Bar who, when nominated and elected, shall be enrolled in the district from which they are elected. The members shall be elected from separate districts as follows:

(d) Three additional members of The Missouri Bar who have unique experience and knowledge or who represent diverse elements of the bar within the state of Missouri including, but not limited to, age, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, geography, and areas and types of practice. These members will be elected as determined by the Board of Governors.

District No. 1

(i) Two members shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the counties of Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Chariton, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Putnam, Sullivan, and Worth. These counties constitute District No. 1 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 2

(ii) One member shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the counties of Adair, Audrain, Clark, Howard, Knox, Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls, Randolph, Schuyler, Scotland, Shelby, and Warren. These counties constitute District No. 2 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 3

(iii) One member shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the counties of Bates, Carroll, Cass, Cooper, Henry, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis, Ray, St. Clair, and Saline. These counties constitute District No. 3 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 4

(iv) Two members shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the county of Cole. This county shall constitute District No. 4 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 5

(v) Two members shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the counties of Barry, Barton, Cedar, Dade, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Stone, and Vernon. These counties constitute District No. 5 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 6

(vi) One member shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the counties of Benton, Camden, Christian, Dallas, Douglas, Hickory, Laclede, Miller, Moniteau, Morgan, Ozark, Polk, Taney, Webster, and Wright. These counties constitute District No. 6 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 7

(vii) Two members shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the counties of Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Jefferson, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Ripley, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Scott, Stoddard, and Washington. These counties constitute District No. 7 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 8

(viii) Three members shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the counties of Clay, Jackson (excluding Kansas City) and Platte. These counties constitute District No. 8 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 9

(ix) Seven members shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the County of St. Louis. This county constitutes District No. 9 for purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 10

(x) Two members shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the County of Greene. This county constitutes District No. 10 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 11

(xi) Six members shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the city of St. Louis. This City constitutes District No. 11 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 12

(xii) Eight members shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in that portion of the city of Kansas City within Jackson County. That portion of said city shall constitute District No. 12 for the purposes of this Rule 7. Those members of the Bar enrolled within the city limits of Kansas City but in counties other than Jackson shall be members of the respective districts including the counties other than Jackson whether within or without the city limits of Kansas City.

District No. 13

(xiii) One member shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the counties of Carter, Crawford, Dent, Franklin, Gasconade, Howell, Iron, Maries, Oregon, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, Shannon, Texas, and Wayne. These counties constitute District No. 13 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 14

(xiv) One member shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the county of St. Charles. This county constitutes District No. 14 for the purposes of this Rule 7.

District No. 15

(xv) One member shall be elected by the members of The Missouri Bar enrolled in the counties of Boone and Callaway. These counties constitute District No. 15 for the purposes of this Rule 7.
